FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - AUDITIONS!!
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND UTSA TO BE A UTSA TWIRLER?
You must be enrolled at UTSA in order to be a twirler at UTSA. We are an official part of the SOSA Marching band and is an official class. Each member MUST take the one-credit class once on the team. Class/team rehearsals are held Mon/wed/friday 6-9:30pm. We no longer accept community college students as members of SOSA.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Yourself, personal equipment, filled out paper work (can be found above) water bottle, and a positive attitude!
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Please dress in black, form fitting clothing that does not restrict movement and allows for body lines to clearly be seen. No jeans, long pants, or overly baggy clothing. No large jewelry. Hair and make up should be performance quality. Twirling costumes are not necessary for the auditions
WHAT TYPE OF THINGS WILL I HAVE TO DO FOR THE AUDITION?
You will be expected to demonstrate skills both movement and baton oriented. You can also expect to be taught material at the the audition as well as partake in a personal interview. In addition to twirling skills, you will be observed throughout the audition process on your ability to learn, enthusiasm, projection, showmanship and overall performance. We will be looking for your potential and ability to become a collegiate member and performer.
DOES IT COST ANY MONEY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE AUDITION?
No. It does not cost you to participate.
WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I MADE THE TEAM?
You will know if you have made the team or not within 1-2 weeks after the day of the auditions. No announcements will be made on the website or social media until we hear back from each twirler offered a position
WILL HOUSING BE PROVIDED FOR AUDITIONS?
